"The songs stay with you."
I first heard about Brooklyn through John McDaniel's website. Since I work in Brooklyn as a drama teacher in an elementary school, I couldn't wait to see it. I wanted to fly out to Denver and see it there but circumstances prevented it. When it was first announced for Broadway, the other "boardies" and I planned a big Brooklyn weekend where we would all meet in NYC and see it together.
I can't tell you what a wonderful, unique, incredible experience it was. The music was fantastic. I received the sampler CD in the mail and knew that it was something special. The songs stay with you. You find yourself singing them long after you leave the theater. The cast does an incredible job. Eden Espinosa will be a theater superstar. Her voice shatters throughout the theater. Ramona Keller steals the show and Cleavant Derricks gives the show heart and soul.
The costumes are the most fun. As a drama teacher, I can't wait to take my students to see how creative they are. They are so much fun. I can't say enough good things about this show. |
