"Every time I see it, it's as if
something new happens"
When I first received the promotional CD in the mail, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to give the show a try, but I saw Eden Espinosa's name and remembered her from Wicked - I had seen her play Nessa one night when everyone was sick. I fell in love with those 4 songs, almost immediately.
In mid-October, I decided to go see Brooklyn, literally, on a whim. It was two hours before the matinee show and I just got on the bus and went into the city and bought myself a single seat. For the almost-two hour run of the show, I was amazed at the talent, the beauty, the aura of the entire cast and the show itself. That time, it was the weekend before the show officially opened and I just remembered thinking, "They should be open already... Forget the previews!" I waited outside for the cast members and seeing as Eden was the only cast member I really knew, I was disappointed that I didn't get to meet her but was incredibly thankful that I met the other cast members and the writer as well.
Since then, I've seen Brooklyn more times that I can really count, both in previews (thank heavens for those long school breaks!) and after it opened. Every time I see it, it's as if something new happens and it's like I'm seeing it for the first time all over again. Every single cast member and orchestra member up on that stage vibrate with color and talent and I'm so grateful that they share it with audiences every day.
And you can bet that I'm scheduled to see this show many MORE times during my Christmas break! |
