Where they found out about Brooklyn : online
Review: The format enthralled me as I watched a story within a story unfold via contemporary sounds and words conveyed by performers with powerful voices. The dynamic set was a first for me, and my eyes were kept busy seeing the props, costumes, etc. first, then taking them apart to see the found material it was made from. True eye candy! The storyteller involved the audience from the beginning, and I found myself asking "What would I do?" in almost every situation on stage. By the end of the performance, "Once Upon a Time" had a totally different meaning, a realistic one--life doesn't always develop as we'd like it to, so we have to adjust our youthful ideals accordingly. I loved Paradice; even though I don't agree with her attitude, she is who she is because of her experience, not the fairy tale Cinderella that musicals often portray. Brooklyn is not predictable or formulaic, so it kept me intently focused on every word and action. I loved the lack of intermission because I didn't lose my immersion in the story. I was THERE, living the story along with its participants. This is a different kind of musical, with a strong soul underneath its great music and set that made me think about what I was experiencing.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : From my daughter, Ally
Review: My daughter runs the Eden Espinosa fansite and got our whole family involved back in the Spring, 2004. We have seen the show numerous times and each time, have gotten something new out of it. I especially love the music and costumes. My favorite songs, Once Upon a Time and Streetsinger, can always be heard in my car or home. Hearing them in person, whether at Bryant Park or the Plymouth is the most amazing experience. I also love hanging out at the stagedoor before and after the performances. The cast members are so very nice to the fans and are always willing to sign a poster, be in a photograph or give an autograph. Mark and Barrie are amazing: always there to greet the theatergoers before the show and to talk to them after the show. It is one show I can never get tired of. I can't wait for the CD to come out. My family definitely has Brooklyn in the Blood.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Promo CD
Review: I first came to see BROOKLYN during it's previews on Broadway and was blown away. I've never before seen a cast with such passion and enthusiasm for each other, thier art, and thier performance. Each and every cast member gave a powerful perfomance. Vocals were all amazing as well as the orchestration. Every facet of this show was fresh, well thought, and entertaining while delivering a meaningful storyline as well. The prop design was absolutely brilliant, and exceptionally creative. Most surprising were the costumes, which added to the creativity of the entire show. Congratulations to the cast, orchestra, writers, director, producer, technical crew, stage hands, designers and all involved. You've delivered everything todays musical could expect and more, you are everything RENT delivered and beyond. You have defined what today's musical should be. Be proud!

Where they found out about Brooklyn : I was a big fan of Wicked and I heard about the new girl who was understudying Elphaba. After a few more web clicks away, I found out about Brooklyn .
Review: My first Brooklyn experience was at Bryant Park this summer. When Brooklyn started, it took my breath away. As a performer you can't wait for that next thing to move or inspire you. The entire set was like that for me. Goosebumps for 15 minutes straight. I still didn't know exactly how this wonderful music fit in the context of the show. So, I got 2 tickets for the second day of the preview. After seeing the show I felt as though I had just viewed a musical historic moment. The songs were coming to life in the story better than I had imagined. The work of every singer and musician was luminescent. The way I myself related to the character of Brooklyn ... the struggle with her father, the searching and finding herself and having music grow from this empty dark place. So, I did what anyone else would do with this jult of inspiration. I bought 7 more tickets, took some friends, spread the word, read every article, and crossed my fingers that this show would live on for my generation to see. The writers are amazing, directors are true visionaries, and the performers... compelling. This show is the best thing that's happened to Broadway and brings theatre back to a place where talent perseveres and is the core of every part of the show. After all, isn't that what Broadway should be about? Pure Talent.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Sampler CD in mail
Review: I have wanted to see Brooklyn from the second I popped the sampler cd into my cd player. I knew I would love the show. I kept trying for tickets and waited until I could get the best available seats. I finally got good seats and no one could come with me. I decided to go alone, and purchased one ticket in the third row orchestra. I really wanted to see the show badly so I didn't care about going alone. The show was excellent. The entire cast did a phenominal job. I loved every second of it. It was nice to see a small cast, and notice how each person did their part on stage to prepare for the next scene. After the show I had to get autographs, everyone was so kind and signed autographs for each and every person waiting. I absolutely loved the show and hope it stays around for many years, in order that I may see it Many Many more times.......

Review: Exhilarating!! What a fairy tale!!! The cast of 5 is unbelievable; they all are all so talented. It is amazing to me the entire cast can perform at such a high level. I have seen the show four times and will return. Love the music and the cast does such a wonderful job you can't help being moved. Each time I see it, I notice something I had previously missed. As the show comes to an end I find myself hoping they just start it all over again. The wardrobe/costumes are awesome, "you would never think trash could look so good". This show is new and different and I love it. The audiences I have been in absolutely loved it. For those who have seen it you know what I am talking about, for everyone else you need to find out.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Broadway on Broadway telecast
Review: When I first listened to the music from Brooklyn I couldn't believe the amount of power that was behind each song, I didn't think it would be possible for someone to sing it live as I had heard on the recording. The entire cast proved me wrong and every aspect of the show was powerful. I had tears streaming down my face during Raven and chills running down my spine during Once Upon a Time and Streetsinger. This entire show is a masterpiece and I know it will be around for a very long time.

Review: I saw BKLYN October 22, 2004 and it was AMAZING!! SO GREAT!! I love the music and I can't wait for the CD to come out later this month. Eden was so kind at the stage door - in fact, the entire cast was! The storyline is so solid and touching. I found myself crying, laughing, cheering, etc. The story really touched me and was very moving. The set is so fantastic and the costumes too! So simple and yet so complex. I honestly felt like I was watching street performers putting on a show (duh!) - you know what I mean! The concept is great, the music is great, the actors are great, the direction was great! This is a musical you don't want to miss! BKLYN is the greatest new show since Hairspray! I haven't seen anything quite like it and I can't wait to come back to New York to see it again and again and again. Thank you to each of the cast members for allowing me to come along with you on this journey. The honesty in each of your characters and the vulnerability is unbelievably touching. I felt transformed in a way for that period of time and I didn't want it to end! Thank you for an amazing performance and for sharing your talents with the rest of us! BRAVO! Where they found out about Brooklyn :
Review: Brooklyn is one of the most fabulous shows I've ever seen. It is a wonderful amalgamation of original creative concepts. The mixture of social commentary and musical theatre is an inspired notion. The entire cast is an amazing ensemble and they bring such spirit to Broadway as a whole. Eden Espinosa is a star in the making and Ramona Keller possesses such a fierce combination of talent and passion. Kevin Anderson and Karen Olivo are dynamo talents and how wonderful to have Cleavant Derricks back on Broadway. Brooklyn deserves to run for a long time.
