Where they found out about Brooklyn : happened upon the website

Review: I'm an aspiring Broadway actress, so naturally, musicals are my passion. I caught the WICKED bug after seeing the Tony's in June and decided I had to come up to NY and see the show. I had the opportunity to choose a second show to see, and in searching for one, I happened upon the BROOKLYN website. Lo and behold there was Eden Espinosa--Idina Menzel's understudy--starring in a brand new musical that would be previewing while I was in NY! Naturally, I made my mom purchase tickets and it was off to NY. I found the show to be so captivating and I loved how the characters seemed to reach right out into the audience and pull you in. I've never seen on Broadway a more intimate show. Well done! I was quite taken, however, by Ms. Espinosa's stellar voice--I couldn't believe that it sounded even better in person than it did on the recording! I told someone the very next day, "I came to NY wanting to be Idina Menzel... but now... I want to be Eden Espinosa!" Brooklyn is a phenomenal show that is absolutely refreshing in every way, from the down-to-earth actors to the soulful music to the enchanting costumes. I hope to come see the show again soon... but until then, I highly recommend it to anyone in search of quality entertainment!

Where they found out about Brooklyn : playbill.com

Review: Well I was so looking forward to this show, I love the music from the website and decided to go see it. I purchased tickets for the front row during the week of christmas and boy did I get a treat. The voices are amazing, the sets are as creative as I have ever seen, and the story takes you for a roller coaster ride up and down and back up again. This was an absolutely amazing performance, so much so that I waited at the stage door with a sub-zero wind chill to meet the cast who were again fantastic and all signed. This show is amazing and I really hope it stays around for a long long time.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : through a friend

Review: I went to New York for my 21st birthday and wanted to see as many shows as possible. At the top of my list was Brooklyn . We had great tickets and could touch the stage from where we sat. From the moment the show started until it ended I was in awe. The costumes were genius and I loved how a trash bag could be made to fit like a designer dress. The music is amazing and I can't wait until the sheet music comes out so I can sing it too. At the end of the show I was disappointed because it was over. That's my only complaint, it should be longer. My friend and I stood outside and waited for signaures from the cast. All of the cast members signed my poster and took pictures. They were really nice so that made my Brooklyn experience better. I can't wait to go back and see it.

Review: Can somebody say AMAZING!?! I was blown away with how incredible this show was... It has heart, excitement, and Eden Espinosa. She knocked my socks off (Literally, like they were not on my feet by the end of the show) She hits her notes perfect and clear... I left the theater on an emotional high. Not only is Eden amazing, but she is surrounded by a brilliant cast of singer/actors. Not once in all 1hr and fifty minutes that I sat in my seat was there a sour note sung. The set design was impressive, as well as light design. I couldn't believe that I had come to New York to talking about the other shows I was going to see and left talking about Brooklyn ... As I said before, Can somebody say AMAZING!?!

Where they found out about Brooklyn: I attended a workshop for drama teachers in NYC this summer and met Eden when she came to talk to the group with the creative team of WICKED. She mentioned this new show that she was working on. It sounded amazing! I introduced myself to her and tld her how impressed I was with her accomplishments (especially since we are around the same age). She told me that it was ME she was impressed with since I was teaching our future generatons about theatre. That stuck with me and so the first chance I got to come back to NY, I got tickets!

Review: My husband and I sat in the second row and I don't think I took a breath the entire time! The story, the staging, the set, the costumes, the actors were ALL BRILLANT! I loved the show because of the pure talent that I was watching on the stage and because of the creativity of the show as a whole. I was amazed by the voices of the entire cast. I laughed, I cried and I waited outside in the rain to get the actors' autographs and guess what? Eden remembered me! This show was the highlight of my trip and it is my new favorite show! I can't wait to tell my students all about it.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Buzz around NYC

Review: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Scot Wisniewski, and I am an actor based here in NYC. I was recently at a Broadway audition and was in the warm up room chatting with some fellow performers about Brooklyn the musical. We were all getting ready to see the show in the coming weeks. We had all heard the hype about the show. Hype scares me, for what most people consider grandiose and magical, I simply do not. Last night I experienced something magical. I went to see Brooklyn the musical on Broadway. My friends always say that I am way too critical when it comes to shows. I have seen just about every single production here in NYC, both Broadway and off. All too often I leave a show feeling somewhat fulfilled, but not overjoyed. Last night I left Brooklyn the musical with a feeling that is somewhat hard to put into words. I had to run home and send an email out to all my affluent theater friends, many of whom are on Broadway right now. I have not seen a show in a very long time that is vocally as stellar as Brooklyn . There are only five people in the cast, no major set changes, and yet; it has to be one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. Sometimes, simplicity is best. You know a show is powerful when it has you laughing one song and crying the next. My hats are off to everyone in the cast, for I know how vocally demanding eight shows a week can be. I don't want to jinx anything, but I will see you all at The Tony's. BRAVO! BRAVO! www.scotw.com

Where they found out about Brooklyn : My friends back in June

Review: I've been waiting since June to see the show, and I finally got to see it on December 21, 2004 . It was everything I expected and more! Once the first note was sung, I knew that the show would be amazing. I loved every second of it. Every word, every lyric, every song. The whole cast was phenominal, and very nice to all the fans at the stage door! I also had the oppurtunity of meeting Mark, and he couldn't have been nicer! I hope to see the show again soon. I can't get enough of it!

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Broadway on Broadway

Review: I saw Brooklyn twice since it's been at the Plymouth, and I must say that show always gets my feet tapping and singing the tunes when I leave the theatre, not to mention the chills I get when the very, very talented casts belt their songs. The cast recording is one of the best investments I have made since I moved to New York ... Everytime I listen to it I relive the memories that were promised to me by the Streetsinger!

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Friend

Review: I first heard about BKLYN from a friend who is a fan of Eden from her performance in "Wicked." I listened to the sampler CD and was floored at how powerful the voices of the cast were. When I came up to NYC to see "Wicked," I immediately bought tickets to see BKLYN as well. The live performance was about 100 times better than the sample songs on the website (if that's even possible!!) The creative use of props and costumes is unbelievable! "Trash never looked so good?" Amen to that! A super-talented cast, heart-warming plot, and soul-filled songs leave you walking down the street a little bit happier. Since I've seen it, I can't get the songs out of my head. And if the excellent performance wasn't enough, the way the cast acted towards the fans at the stage door definitely added to it. What a humble and gracious cast! If you miss BKLYN, you're truly missing out on the unique experience that is Broadway!

Where they found out about Brooklyn : friend

Review: I went to see BKLYN on the 16 of October. I loved it from the beginning. Just looking at the set when you walk in brought you into Brooklyn . Everything about the show was amazing: the actors/actresses (Eden Espinosa is now my new obsession), the creative costumes, the set, the music. The CD is incredible because you actually feel like you are at the production. The lyrics are so inspiring. Anyone can relate to the heart touching story. At my production there were three standing ovations: one for Once Upon a Time, one for Raven, and one for Streetsinger. The actors and actresses portray there characters so well and express the importance of family and love so well. Just listening to Eden sing Once Upon a Time on the website, I knew it would be the new sensation on 2005. After the show I met the whole cast who were amazingly nice and signed everyones playbills. My BKLYN experience was the BEST broadway experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

Review: My mom and I have seen Brooklyn three times and plan on seeing it several more times in the very near future. The story is great and the music awesome. We saw it in preview and as I said several times since then. We just can't seem to get enough! Whenever we need a night to just get out - we go see Brooklyn . My mom and I have told so many people about the show and after seeing it, they agree with us 100%-the show stays with you. It's a true expereince for all to have.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : Saw it in previews

Review: I went into Brooklyn with less than high expectations. After seeing a slue of musicals that didn't leave me with "that feeling' you get when you've seen something inspirational(even though apparently the tourists love them), I left Brooklyn in utter shock. The stalemate was no longer and I had left fulfilled and energized! Musical theatre is meant to inspire, and thats what Brooklyn did for me. The cast was unbelievably talented and sang their hearts out. My only criticism is this, I have had difficulty figuring out what exactly it is about- I enjoy the songs, the vocals, even the lyrics, but as a whole, what message is trying to be conveyed? Nonetheless, its musical theatre, it doesn't really matter. The costume design was Tony-worthy as well as the Rent'esque set. I certainly would see it again.

Where they found out about Brooklyn : John McDaniel 's website

Review: I first heard about " Brooklyn " through John McDaniel 's website. Since I work in Brooklyn as a drama teacher in an elementary school, I couldn't wait to see it. I wanted to fly out to Denver and see it there but circumstances prevented it. When it was first announced for Broadway, the other "boardies" and I planned a big " Brooklyn " weekend where we would all meet in NYC and see it together. I can't tell you what a wonderful, unique incredible experience it was. The music was fantastic. I received the sampler CD in the mail and knew that it was something special. The songs stay with you. You find yourself singing them long after you leave the theater. The cast does an incredible job. Eden Espinosa will be a theater superstar. Her voice shatters throughout the theater. Ramona Keller steals the show and Cleavant Derricks gives the show heart and soul. The costumes are the most fun. As a drama teacher, I can't wait to take my students to see how creative they are. They are so much fun. I can't say enough good things about this show. Larry Estrin

Where they found out about Brooklyn : received cd sampler, NY Times

Review: After reading the storyline and listening to the cd sampler I was intriqued by the combination. I always like to try new and exciting plays as well as various forms of theatre. I decided to surprise my wife for her birthday and took her to see something new, cutting edge and a show with alot of heart and energy. I really didn't know what to expect but all I can say is "WOW". There should be more creativity like this on Broadway, not reissuing of old plays. The cast was incredible it was evident from their energy that they truly loved the body of work as well as entertaining the audience. The costumes and use of theatre were GREAT and we loved every minute and of of course the music was "INCREDIBLE". You can't help but sing the tunes on the way out of the theatre. How disappointing that the cd wasn't available at that time. However, I know what my wife will get for the holidays. We've recommended to our friends for a great evening at the theatre the one play to see this season is -BKLYN.

Review: I saw it with two friends last Saturday and absolutely loved it, as did they. The music, timing, costuming, set, everything was wonderful. It's so refreshing to see a new show and new talent on Broadway. I've been a theatre junkie since I was in high school, sometimes going to NYC and binging. This was truly a delightful part of the binge. I will be purchasing the CD. Congratulations on a marvelous show, and may you have the long run that you truly deserve.
